European championships pool
Brandenburg (Germany)
Straight pool, 8-Ball, 9-Ball
Hi everyone
I'm in Germany at the moment playing the european championships pool.
Last thursday we started with straight pool.
I had to play my first match against Christine Wiechert (Germany) and I lost 75-55. I missed a few easy balls and at the end of the game she was a little bit lucky. So up to the losers side.
Then I played against a Finnish girl Panula Tuuliina and I won 75-20.
After that I played against Katrine Jensen ( Denmark) and I won quiet easy with 75-24.
My next opponent was Kibaroglu Eylül (Turkey) score 75-7
So up to the last 16 (sinlge elimination)
There I had to play against Tiziana Cacciamani (Italy) it was a very good match, I was up 34-14 and then she made a very good run and I was 61-39 behind but she missed and I finished it in one time 75-61
In the quarter final I played against Jasmin Oushan, we both didn't play good but she won 75-37.
So 5th place in straight pool.
On sunday we started with 8-ball because I was runner-up last year I was seeded number 2 so I had a bye in the first round.
In the second round I had to play against Eliane Kurzen from Switzerland and I won 6-2, In that match I won a nice rack with 2 difficult bank shots
that was it for sunday.
Today (monday) I played my third match against Schwan Janine (Germany) I won 6-3.
So again into the single elimination.
Tomorrow I will play at 1pm but I don't know my opponent yet.
Besides pool there isn't much to do around here except going to the sauna and watch some movies and go out for dinner
Hi everyone
Today we started with the last 16, I played against Aino Pehkonen and won 6-2.
In the quarterfinal I played against Tamara Rademakers. I won 6-5.
When I was 5-3 down something happened.
I played a combo and made her ball but my ball stayed on the table, after that I played a safety shot.
At that time I wasn't aware that I made a mistake (ofcourse not because if Tamara was paying attention she would have said it to me and I would have realized that I made a mistake and she would have ball in hand with still 2 balls on the table so it would be over!!!!! and also a lot of people were watching so....) I was just so into the game that I didn't even realized that I did something very stupid. (and by the way I'm also just a human I make mistakes too)
But then another thing, when Tamara was looking what she was going to do, Darko (Ladies Coach) said to Tamara it was a foul (which is not allowed). Then Tamara asked me is it a foul? I said I don't know what's going on. Because I didn't know that I had made a mistake! She played the shot made foul and I finished the rack. Eventually I won the match 6-5.
I regret what happened but I don't feel guilty of unsportive behavior, since I didn't realise that I made a mistake, especially not in that situation.
So here is what happened and nothing else.
Today the 9-ball tournament starts and I play my match at 5pm against Louis Furberg from Sweden.
I won against Louis Furberg 6-2.
In one rack she racked the balls wrong the 9-ball was not in the middle, I noticed it when she was ready to go and play the shot. I never was in this situation before so I didn't know if it's alowed or not... So after she broke I asked her about it and she also didn't know. Then we asked the referee and he told us that it's a foul and I have ball in hand.
...................................
I just checked the rules on the EPBF website and it says: . RACKING THE BALLS. The object balls are racked in a diamond shape, with the one ball at the top of the diamond and on the foot spot, the nine ball in the center of the diamond, and the other balls in random order, racked as tightly as possible. the game begins with cue ball in hand behind the head string.
LEGAL BREAK SHOT: The rules governing the break shot are the same as for other shots except:
If the cue ball is pocketed or driven off the table, or the requirements of the opening break are not met, it is a foul, and the incoming player has cue ball in hand anywhere on the table.
Then at 9pm I had to play against Domnajova Angelika when I was 2-0 up she gave up (because of family matters) so 7-0.
Back to the 8-ball event: After my match against the Dutch player Tamara Rademakers, the Dutch ladies coach wanted to do an official protest, eventually they decided not to protest.
the rules are very clear in this matter (player responsibility)
Eventually they just wrote a letter to the EPBF to make their complains.
As a reaction on this letter the Belgian team leader decided to write a letter with the complete story of that frame.
On wednesday march 29, Alain (Belgian Team leader) phoned me, the EPBF wanted to talk to me. But then when I arrived in the venue it wasn't necessary anymore.
On thursday march 30, the semi finals of the 8-ball event would start at 2pm.
Again the Belgium team leader phoned me, I had to go and talk to the sports director from the EPBF. That was at 11.45am.
Again I had to tell them my story, and again I told them that I didn't made the foul on purpose. (the reason here for is very clear, if she was paying attention she would have called the foul and would have had ball in hand with only 2 balls to go)
30 minutes after this meeting they told me that I'm disqualified for the 8-ball event. According to their opinion unsporting play from my side. So Tamara Rademakers wins 6-0 and goes to the semi final.
Of course I was shocked by this situation and I still can't understand why they did so much injustice to me. Ik made an "unaware mistake" at 3-5 and win that rack so 4-5, afterwards I made 5-5 and 6-5 by which she also had chances to win the match.
But they didn't take any notice of this, and they also didn't say anything about the Dutch ladies coach, coaching during the match.
I'm disqualified, the rule "player responsibility" is not applied again. All this because my opponent wasn't paying attention and didn't see what happened, also the referee didn't see what happened. At the end of this frame the referee asked what happened and decided that the match had to continue (player responsibility)
The only explanation for me is that the EPBF didn't follow the rules to get Tamara Rademakers here A-status! (A-status = monthly salary)
Luckily I got a lot of support after my disqualification en received a lot of positive reactions from other players of other countries, and they didn't talk any good about my opponent, not even here own players group, I think that says enough....
Afterwards I still played in the 9-ball event, although the motivation was a bit lost at that time.
To get into the last 16 I played against a Polish girl Stawarz Karolina and won 7-6.
In the last 16 I played against Estelle Bijnen.
very soon it was 3-3, the luck was definitely on her side.
I made the 9-ball to go 4-3 in front and wanted to take out the balls to start a new frame. At that time my opponent called foul! She said to the referee that I was taking the balls out before the cue ball had come to an end!!
Result, the 9-ball came back on the table with ball in hand, so the frame went to my opponent.
Nota bene the cue ball could have never gone in off.
The fact that my opponent complained about this, proofs that she did everything to win including unsporting behavior.
The only thing I can say about all this, is that it's very low what she did and I will never forget what happened.
How often do you see players get the balls out of the pocket even when the cue ball is still running.
I didn't even put the balls on the table... I just had my hand in the pocket when she immediately yelled "foul" (I looked into the wpa rules and I can't find if it's a foul or not? the only thing I can find in there is COMPLETION OF STROKE: A stroke is not complete (and therefore is not counted) until all balls on the table have become motionless after the stroke (a spinning ball is in motion). That's all so it doesn't say that it's not alowd to go with your hand in a pocket or anything else. Ofcourse nobody would put his hand in a pocket if the cue ball is moving in that direction... but that wasn't even the case in my situation, because the cue ball was completely on the other side of the table.
I hope she enjoyed here victory, because after all this I couldn't concentrate anymore en lost the match 7-3.
But anyway that's how you get to know people.
I will have my revenge like the governor of California would say
"I'LL BE BACK"
